Recently, the Canadian Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) issued an important announcement, making major adjustments to the application for equipment certification with multiple product marketing names (PMN). From June 30, 2025, it will be officially mandatory that such equipment must be handled in the mode of \"Family Application\", and multiple product marketing names (PMN) cannot be filled in a single field.

In February 2025, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) released the 7th edition of IEC 60335-2-14:2025, Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances – Part 2: Particular Requirements for Kitchen Machinery.

On July 15, 2025, the European Union published Regulation (EU) 2025/843 in the Official Journal, amending Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs). This amendment adds restrictions for 2-(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-4,6-di-tert-amylphenol (UV-328) to Part A of Annex I of the POPs Regulation. The amendment will enter into force 20 days after publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.

On July 14, 2025, the European Commission published in its Official Journal the revised Regulation (EU) 2025/1399 on POPs, which will enter into force on August 3, 2025.

From August 1, 2025, the EU will enforce the EN 18031 series of cybersecurity standards, and non-compliant radio equipment will face market access restrictions! This standard was developed by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the European Electrotechnical Commission (CENELEC). It has been included in the coordinated standards of the Radio Equipment Directive (Directive 2014/53/EU), marking that the EU has erected a new \"security barrier\" in the field of radio equipment cybersecurity.

On June 11, 2025, the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) released the revised version of the toy safety standard EN 71-2, EN 71-2: 2020+A1: 2025 \"Toy Safety - Part 2: Flammability\".

On June 27th, 2025, ECHA announced a public comment on a potential SVHC substance. The public comment will end on August 11th, 2025, during which all stakeholders can submit comments to ECHA. ECHA will comment on the feedback submitted by the public, and if the comments are passed, the substance will be formally included in the SVHC candidate list.

On June 27, 2025, the European Commission published Regulation (EU) 2025/718 in its Official Gazette (OJEU), formally revising the limits for perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS), its salts and related compounds in Annex I of the EU Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) Regulation (EU) 2019/1021. The revised regulations will take effect on July 17, 2025 and will be implemented from December 3, 2025.
