On June 22, 2023, the Department of Commerce and Trade (DBT) issued Announcement No. 0084/23, amending the list of designated toy safety standards used to demonstrate compliance with the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011 (S.I. 2011/1811). These standards came into effect on June 22, 2023, covering England, Scotland, and Wales.
The complete latest version of the coordinated standards is shown in the table below:
In June and August 2022, the UK revised its Toy Safety Regulations 2011 twice, including the addition of new test substances and the update of harmonized standards, to align its toy safety requirements with the EU. The European Union updated its harmonized standards for toy safety regulations in April this year, updating EN 71-13 from the 2021 version to the 2022 version, and the UK's revision is also based on adjustments made by the EU's update.
