In February 2023, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) released two electromagnetic compatibility field standards, IEC TR 61000-1-1:2023 and IEC TR 61000-5-1:2023, replacing IEC TR 61000-1-1992 and IEC TR 61000-5-1996, respectively. Both standards are the first revisions. The differences between the old and new versions are shown below.
IEC TR 61000-1-1:2023
Technical differences between old and new versions
Compared to IEC 61000-1-1:1992, the second edition includes the following significant technical changes:
1) Updated the overall description of the electromagnetic environment in accordance with IEC TR 61000-2-5;
2) Updated descriptions of emission sources, potentially susceptible devices/systems, and coupling mechanisms;
3) The contents to be withdrawn from IEC TR 61000-2-3 and IEC TR 61000-2-5 are included.
Corresponding national standards
The national standard GB/T 17624.1-1998 "Overview of Electromagnetic Compatibility - Application and Interpretation of Basic Terms and Definitions of Electromagnetic Compatibility" is equivalent to IEC 61000-1-1:1992 and is under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee for Electromagnetic Compatibility Standardization (SAC/TC246). The standard is currently in the current state.
IEC TR 61000-5-1:2023
Technical differences between old and new versions
Compared to IEC TR 61000-5-1:1996, the second edition includes the following significant technical changes:
a) Revise the technical content and adjust the clauses and sub clauses;
b) The terminology is consistent with other parts of the IEC 61000 series, such as IEC TR 61000-2-5;
c) An overview of the IEC 61000-5 series has been added to Annex A.
Corresponding national standards
The national standard GB/T 17624.1-1998 "General Requirements for Electromagnetic Compatibility Installation and Mitigation Guidelines" is equivalent to IEC TR 61000-5-1:1996, and the centralized unit is the National Technical Committee for Electromagnetic Compatibility Standardization (SAC/TC246). The standard is currently in the current state.
