The EN60335-1:2012/A1+A2+A14 home appliance product safety coordination standard issued by the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) has not been updated yet, and EN60335-1:2012/A15:2021 has been released.

EN60335-1:2012/A15:2021 has supplementary content from standard introduction, reference standard, and general requirements. The two articles that mainly affect the product are as follows:

01 Provisions on the attractiveness of home appliances for children 22.44

Cl.22.44 newly revised how to determine that appliances are attractive to children and the requirements for such appliances. Generally speaking, the appearance of home appliances cannot be designed with the image of a toy, so as to prevent children from playing with it as a toy and causing danger.

The amendment to Cl.22.44 is as follows:

If one of the following characteristics exists, the appliance is considered attractive to children:

Electrical appliances decorated with human faces, cartoon characters or similar images;

Use appliances that represent the shapes of animals, people, people, or scale models;

If there is more than one of the following characteristics, the appliance is considered attractive to children:

Use non-functional light (functional light, such as light to illuminate objects or areas, signal lights to indicate the status of equipment);

Use non-functional sounds (such as music);

Use non-functional sports;

If the product is considered to be attractive to children, but the mass is less than 4 kg, or is usually intended to be used or installed in a place with a height of less than 850 mm, the following conditions should be met:

If the height is less than 850 mm, the surface (including functional surface and non-functional surface) that can be touched with the test probe 19 of IEC 61032 shall not exceed the specified temperature rise;

Under the conditions of the test probe 18 specified in Article 20.2, the test probe 19 that passes IEC 61032 cannot touch dangerous moving parts;

Under the conditions specified in Article 8.1.1 for the test probe 18, the test probe 19 of IEC 61032 shall not be used to contact live parts;

Under the conditions specified in Article 20.2 of the test probe 18, the liquid in the equipment that can be contacted by the test probe 19 shall not exceed 38°C during normal use, or may flow out of the equipment in different positions. Containers that require two independent and continuous actions to reach the liquid are considered to meet the requirements.

The requirement of 22.12 applies to all accessible parts of the product (originally, this clause only applied to the handles, knobs, push rods and other similar parts of the product).

02 Clauses related to remote control of products 24.1.7

If the remote operation of the equipment is carried out through the telecommunication network, the relevant standard for the telecommunication interface circuit in the equipment is IEC 62151. This clause is mainly for smart home appliances that can be remotely controlled in the future.

IEC 62151: 2000-Safety of equipment electrically connected to at telecommunications network

This standard applies to equipment designed and intended to be directly connected to a telecommunications network, regardless of its power source.
