Korea

Lithium battery KC

1. South Korea’s new KC standard KC 62133-2 (2020-07) was officially released on July 21, 2020, and it is currently accepted to apply for KC through the IEC 62122-2017 version of CB MOU.

2. The old version of KC 62133 (2019-02) standard can be applied for until December 31, 2020. It is not possible to apply for the abolition on January 1, 2021. Only the latest standard KC 62133-2 will be available.

3. Starting from January 1, 2021, rechargeable lithium-ion batteries (energy density exceeding 700Wh/L and charging voltage exceeding 4.4V) used on tablets, mobile phones, and laptops will be added as KC safety certification objects and need to be accepted For factory review, the specific application method still needs to wait for further notice.

4. From August 1, 2021, lithium batteries used in personal mobile devices (electric balance bikes, scooters, and electric bicycles) with a maximum speed of no more than 25km/h will become KC objects.

Dry battery KC

South Korea’s "Electrical Appliances and Daily Necessities Safety Management Act" stipulates that starting from November 15, 2020, cylindrical batteries and button batteries will be included in safety confirmation.

After implementation, the shipment and customs clearance of cylindrical batteries and button batteries must first obtain KC certification, including the cylindrical batteries and button batteries used in the product (complete machine), and they must also obtain KC certification separately. Sold in Korea.

1. Effective date: Effective on November 15, 2020.

2. This type of product is subject to safety confirmation. Samples need to be sent to a Korean laboratory for testing. No factory audit is required. Applications are now accepted.

Thailand

Thailand-TISI puts mobile power into the mandatory list

On June 19, 2020, Thailand TISI issued a notice to include mobile power in the mandatory list. The notice will take effect 150 days after the notice is issued. It is expected to be officially implemented on November 16, 2020.

India

The Indian BIS authority has extended the standard validity period of standard 16046:2015 for alkaline or non-acid electrolyte rechargeable batteries to December 29, 2020.

Lithium batteries shipped to India after December 29, 2020 will implement the new standards IS 16046 (Part 1): 2018 and IS 16046 (Part 2): 2018.

Cells and battery packs need to apply for BIS CRS certification separately, and samples need to be sent to the local laboratory for testing; when applying for battery pack certification, the cells must first confirm whether they have obtained CRS certification.
