Regulatory Information | New National Standard for Toys GB 6675-2025 to be Mandatory on November 1, 2026!

On October 5, 2025, the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of China jointly released GB 6675.2-2025, "Toy Safety Part 2: Mechanical and Physical Properties." This standard will officially take effect on November 1, 2026, fully replacing GB 6675.2-2014 and GB 6675.12-2014. This standard update covers important aspects such as basic safety requirements, mechanical and physical properties, flammability, and chemical properties.

Major Changes in the New Toy Standard

GB 6675.1-2025 Toy Safety Part 1: Basic Specifications

◆ Revised/Added Chemical Items: Revised requirements for the migration of certain elements, added requirements for phthalates, formaldehyde, azo compounds, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, nitrosamines, formamide, short-chain chlorinated paraffins, various volatile organic compounds and total volatile organic compounds, as well as allergenic fragrances;

◆ Added requirements for simulated food;

◆ Added requirements for internal parts of toys with voltages exceeding 24V;

◆ Clarified hygiene requirements and other odor-related requirements;

◆ Added electromagnetic radiation requirements;

◆ Updated Labeling/Instructions: Revised or supplemented the labeling and instructions for age warnings, simulated food, chemicals/cleaning/use restrictions, etc.

GB 6675.2-2025 Toy Safety Part 2: Mechanical and Physical Properties

◆ Added acceptable options for ventilation hole construction;

◆ Revised speed limits for electrically powered ride-on toys;

◆ Added requirements for flying toys, yo-yos, neck straps (whole or part), and assemblies;

◆ Changed the description of the applicable scope for mouth-operated toys;

◆ Added instructions on the measurement method for flexible plastic bag dimensions;

◆ Modified/added warning statements.

GB 6675.3-2025 Toy Safety Part 3: Flammability

◆ Added wind speed requirements for the testing environment;

◆ Clarified gas supply purity specifications;

◆ Changed burner location requirements and provided specific deviations;

◆ Added test methods for toy costumes and changed the judgment criteria for toy costumes;

◆ Changed the technical requirements and test methods for soft-filled toys.

GB 6675.4-2025 Toy Safety Part 4: Migration of Certain Elements

◆ Revised the definition of paper and cardboard, added definitions for crystal slime, modeling clay, and clay glue;

◆ Added the definition of accessible parts and explanations of accessible areas;

◆ Added boron limit requirements and correction factors;

◆ Added a dewaxing procedure.
