[Concern] MIC in Vietnam has included the performance test of lithium batteries in the mandatory scope

Recently, the Ministry of Information and Communication of Vietnam (MIC-MOST) issued the Draft Notice on the List of Products and Goods Managed by the Ministry of Information, which pointed out that the performance test of IEC 61960-3:2017 in QCVN 101:2020/BTTTT standard will be fully enforced from January 1, 2026.

The QCVN 101:2020/BTTTT standard is based on IEC 61960-3:2017 and TCVN11919-2: 2017 (IEC 62133-2: 2017). Because no laboratory could meet the requirements of performance testing before, only the safety specification IEC 62133-2:2017 was enforced, but performance testing was not enforced. But now there are three qualified laboratories in Vietnam that can conduct performance testing. Therefore, it is suggested that relevant enterprises should raise product risk awareness, focus on it and complete product performance testing in time to ensure compliance with the latest regulatory requirements.

Warm tips

At present, the draft is still in the stage of soliciting opinions. ZRLK suggests that relevant battery manufacturers pay close attention to the progress of the draft, formulate a testing scheme suitable for their own enterprises, and complete the testing before the mandatory implementation of the regulations to ensure the compliance of products so as to avoid unnecessary trade losses. Our company has a professional technical team and rich experience in product testing, and can provide our customers with battery testing and certification services.
