Applicable exempted purposes

The Act does not apply to goods or articles produced in India for export.

In addition, the first 200 goods or articles imported by electrical appliance manufacturers for scientific research purposes can be exempted from BIS compulsory certification.

It is worth noting that such imported goods or articles can be treated as waste, but not for commercial purposes, and manufacturers should keep relevant annual records for government agencies to review.
