[Concern] The Ministry of Electronic Information of India released the latest BIS market spot check requirements!

On July 5th, 2024, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) of the Indian government issued an official document, announcing that STPI, an Indian software technology park, would be responsible for the market sampling inspection of compulsory registered electronic information technology products. Manufacturers should pay attention to the notice of STIP and cooperate with the sampling inspection process to avoid being punished.

Spot check requirements

★ Sample sampling: purchased from the open market and randomly selected.

★ Spot check method: submit it to BIS accredited laboratory designated by STPI for testing.

★ Notice of spot check: Detailed instructions and notices about spot check will be sent to the BIS holder/manufacturer/authorized representative /BIS accredited testing laboratory corresponding to the spot check products by mail.

Sampling process

1. STPI sends an email to inform the manufacturer or AIR (the authorized representative of India) of the registered R number that has been sampled, and the manufacturer shall promptly cooperate to provide information when receiving the sampling requirements;

2. STPI randomly selects and buys samples in the market, and sends them to non-public laboratories for testing;

3. The laboratory completes the test and submits it to STPI;;

4. STPI informs the manufacturer of the sampling results;

5. The manufacturer shall cooperate to pay the sampling fee.
