Recently, a large number of sellers have received compliance requests from Amazon in the background. These sellers mainly sell products involving button cell. According to Amazon's requirements, all consumer products that contain button cell or coin batteries and fall within the scope of 16 CFR Part 1263 have been tested and meet the following regulations, standards and requirements. The legal standard came into effect on October 23, 2023.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) will grant a 180-day enforcement transition period from September 21st, 2023 to March 19th, 2024, and the enforcement date of 16 CFR 1263 will be March 19th, 2024.

Amazon's requirements for button cell and coin batteries are as follows:

All button cell and coin batteries must be tested and meet the following regulations, standards and requirements:

1. 16 CFR Part 1700.15 (Anti-virus Packaging Standard)

2. 16 CFR Part 1700.20 (Inspection Procedure for Special Packaging)

3. ANSI C18.3M, which is the safety standard for portable lithium primary batteries.

At the same time, Amazon's requirements for consumer goods including button cell or coin batteries are as follows:

All consumer products containing button cell or coin batteries and applicable to 16 CFR Part 1263 must be tested and meet the following regulations, standards and requirements:

1. Part 1263 of 16 CFR, namely the safety standard for button cell or coin batteries and consumer goods containing such batteries.

2. ANSI/UL 4200 A, that is, the commodity safety standard containing button cell or coin batteries.

In addition to the above requirements, the seller shall also prepare and provide the following information:

The product models of button cell and coin batteries and consumer goods containing such batteries shall be displayed on the product details page:

1. Provide commodity safety instructions and user manuals;

2. Prepare a General Certificate of Conformity (GCC Certificate) to show its compliance with UL 4200A, and prove that it meets the requirements of UL 4200A according to the test results;

3. Provide reports conforming to UL 4200A, which has been adopted by 16 CFR Part 1263;

4. Provide a test report with photos of the products, which proves that the tested products are the same as those on the product details page;

5. Provide photos of goods that prove that they meet the following requirements: anti-virus packaging requirements (16 CFR part 1700.15), warning label declaration requirements (Public Law No.117-171), button cell or coin batteries and safety standards for consumer goods containing such batteries (16 CFR part 1263).

1. The compliance certificate issued by the laboratory shows that your product meets the standards of American Underwriters Laboratory 4200A(UL4200A).

2. General Certificate of Conformity (GCC) that proves to meet UL4200A standard.

If you fail to provide valid compliance documents, Amazon will ban the sale of the corresponding goods.
