On July 19, 2022, the mandatory national standard GB 4943.1-2022 "Audio Video, Information Technology and Communication Technology Equipment Part 1: Safety Requirements" was officially released, and will be fully implemented from August 1, 2023, replacing GB The two standards, 4943.1-2011 and GB 8898-2011, have become the combined safety standards for information technology, audio and video, and telecommunication terminal products, involving CCC categories 08, 09, and 16.

This standard revision adopts the IEC international standard: IEC 62368-1:2018.

Scope of application

The new version of the national standard GB 4943.1-2022 merges the scope of application of the two previous standards GB 4943.1-2011 and GB 8898-2011, covering the "safety requirements for electronic equipment in the fields of audio and video, information technology and communication technology, business and office". ”, such as audio, television, computer, power amplifier, battery-powered products (mobile phones, Bluetooth headsets, sports bracelets, etc.), power adapters, copiers, printers, terminal equipment, shredders, microscopes, etc. Consumer electronics such as office equipment, staplers, typewriters, punchers, fax machines, walkie-talkies, etc. are all within the scope of this standard.

The main changes of the new standard GB 4943.1-2022

1. Hierarchical management and control of safety risks

The common energy hazards such as electrical energy, thermal energy, chemical reaction, kinetic energy, and radiation energy are divided into three levels, and different protective measures are adopted at different levels. Instructions or warning signs are classified as indicative safety precautions.

2. For each hazard, consider normal, abnormal and single failure conditions

For the prevention and control of hazards, it is necessary to not only evaluate the product under normal working conditions, but also consider the single fault of component damage, and still meet the requirements of this standard.

3. More strict control of batteries

After the implementation of the new standard, battery products without temperature protection will be withdrawn from the market.

The new standard also stipulates that products with lithium batteries and power greater than PS1 require a fireproof enclosure. Although the product is not connected to the mains.

4. Switching power supply should use four bleeder resistors instead

Unless the bleeder resistor is a certified component, it should be considered that the residual voltage of the X capacitor should not be a risk of electric shock under the open circuit or short circuit fault of a single resistor. This requires four resistors to meet.

In GB4943:2011, only two bleeder resistors are needed.

5. Changes in standard test items

GB/T 4943:2022 common test items

1. Basic requirements (component structure, label and description, energy classification and protection, safety protection, explosion)

2. Injuries caused by electricity (electrical energy source protection, insulation materials and requirements, safety protection components)

3. Fire caused by electricity (classification of power source and potential ignition source, fire safety protection, internal and external wiring)

4. Injury caused by harmful substances

5. Mechanical damage

6. Hot burning

7. Radiation (gradation of radiation energy sources, safety protection of laser radiation, safety protection of acoustic energy sources)

Warm Tips

Product safety standards are becoming more and more stringent. ZRLK recommends that the majority of domestic audio-video and information technology equipment related enterprises increase their risk awareness of their products, timely test their products in accordance with new requirements, strictly control product quality, and ensure that products meet relevant standards. Avoid random inspection risks. Our company has rich experience in product testing and can help you to carry out supplementary testing of your products in time.
