UPDATE | Australia Publishes Amendments to Radiocommunication Class Licences

On 5 March 2022, the Australian Communications Media Authority (ACMA) amended the 2022 Radiocommunication (LIPD) Category License Change (No.1) under section 132 of the Radiocommunication Act 1992. To increase and open up the WLAN 6GHz frequency band (5925-6425 MHz) to operate the radio local area network transmit function at low power.

Details are as follows

63AA Wireless LAN Transmitter:

Allowed working frequency band (MHz): 5925-6425

Maximum EIRP: 250 mW

(1) The transmitter can only be used indoors.

(2) The power spectral density of the transmitter shall not exceed 12.5 mW EIRP/MHz.

(3) Contention-based multiple access protocols such as Carrier Sense Multiple Access (CSMA) or Multiple Access Collision Avoidance (MACA) must be implemented.

63AB Wireless LAN Transmitter:

Allowed working frequency band (MHz): 5925-6425

Maximum EIRP: 25 mW

(1) The power spectral density of the transmitter shall not exceed 1.25 mW EIRP/MHz.

(2) Contention-based multiple access protocols such as Carrier Sense Multiple Access (CSMA) or Multiple Access Collision Avoidance (MACA) must be implemented.
