Certification Introduction

With the development of trade, buyers and consumers have continuously improved product safety and quality requirements. The Malaysian government stipulates that if products are shipped to Malaysia regularly, suppliers need to apply for product certification. In 1998, Malaysia promulgated the new "Communications and Multimedia Act" (Communications and Multimedia Act 1998), which made detailed regulations on the access conditions of the Malaysian telecommunications services and communications market.

At the same time, a new telecommunications regulatory agency-Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Commission (CMC) was born.

According to the "Communication and Multimedia Law", the application of communication equipment to the market requires an application to CMC or a certification body designated by CMC to perform type certification and obtain a device certification certificate and certification mark.

Communication equipment type certification is carried out by the Communication Equipment Testing Section (CETS) under the jurisdiction of SIRIM.

SIRIM is the only certification management organization in Malaysia. All electronic products entering Malaysia need to apply for SIRIM certification. In principle, the applicant should be a local institution in Malaysia. SIRIM QAS International is responsible for the application and management of SIRIM certification, and the organization issues SIRIM certificates.
