Avoid Customs Detention in the EU! Core Requirements for CE Certification of Wireless Speakers

Author:中认联科 time:2026-06-08 Ctr:3

With the continuous boom of the cross-border audio and video market, wireless speakers have become a popular export product for Chinese foreign trade enterprises selling to the EU, thanks to their portability, wireless connectivity and wide application scenarios. Many enterprises tend to overlook one key point: wireless speakers are electronic products equipped with radio frequency (RF) wireless functions. To achieve smooth sales, customs clearance and distribution within the EU market, CE Certification is an indispensable mandatory compliance requirement. It also serves as a core qualification for passing random inspections by EU customs, entering e-commerce platforms and gaining shelf access in offline supermarkets.

Different from ordinary household appliances, wireless speakers integrate Bluetooth RF, audio playback and power supply circuits, so their CE certification testing standards are more refined. The assessment mainly covers three core directives: RED (Radio Equipment Directive), EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive) and LVD (Low Voltage Directive), which target and resolve common compliance issues for exported products.

RF testing is the top priority of the whole assessment. It mainly inspects the Bluetooth signal frequency band, transmission power and signal anti-interference capability, to prevent the device from interfering with local public communication frequency bands during use. EMC testing examines electromagnetic radiation generated by operating speakers to avoid disruption to surrounding electronic devices, making the products adaptable to diverse usage scenarios including households and outdoor environments across the EU. Electrical safety testing focuses on circuit protection, electric leakage prevention and high temperature resistance, eliminating potential hazards such as fire and electric leakage. Meanwhile, it regulates volume output standards to protect users’ hearing health.

The CE certification process for wireless speakers is simple and easy to implement. Confirm the product’s Bluetooth parameters and overall specifications, and provide samples identical to mass-produced goods. Authorized third-party laboratories will conduct a full set of tests and issue compliant test reports and certificates. After completing document filing, affix the CE mark clearly on the product body and outer packaging, and the products can be exported to the EU in full compliance.

A reminder for all foreign trade enterprises: Never use prototype samples to replace mass-produced products for testing. This practice will highly likely lead to failure in random inspections and subsequent customs detention. Completing CE certification in advance can not only avoid export risks, but also enhance product competitiveness, helping enterprises take firm root in the EU audio and video consumer market.
