The walkie-talkie is a two-way mobile communication tool. It can make calls without any network support. There is no call charge. It is suitable for relatively fixed and frequent calls. But generally, if you want to export such wireless products to enter the Japanese market, you need to apply for Japanese TELEC certification.
What is TELEC certification?
Japan’s "Radio Law" requires type approval (ie, technical regulatory compliance certification) for designated radio equipment. TELEC certification is mandatory. The certification body is the registered certification body TELEC (Telecom Engineering Center) recognized by MIC in the scope of designated radio equipment. It is the main registered certification body for radio equipment conformity certification in Japan. TELEC is also called MIC certification in Japan. MIC is one of the designated issuing agencies, so it is collectively referred to as TELEC certification.
TELEC certification standard
The certified technical standards refer to the classification and technical standards of designated radio equipment listed in the technical regulations compliance certification system on its official website. It is worth noting that if there are differences between these technical standards and the technical requirements of the "Radio Regulatory Commission Rules No. 18", the "Radio Regulations" shall prevail.
Radio TELEC certification test items
1. Frequency Error Measurement (Frequency Error Measurement)
2. Coupling bandwidth/carrier frequency bandwidth test (Occupied Bandwidth and Spread-spectrum Bandwidth / Factor)
3. Unwanted Emission Intensity Measurement (Unwanted Emission Intensity Measurement)
4. Antenna Power Error Measurement (Antenna Power Error Measurement)
5. Receiver spurious disturbance test (Limitation of Collateral Emission of Receiver Measurement)
6. EIRP antenna power test (Transmission Antenna Gain (EIRP Antenna Power) Measurement)
7. 3dB lobe bandwidth test (Transmission Radiation Angle Width (3dB Beamwidth) Measurement)
8. Duty Cycle Measurement
9. Retention time test (retention time).
Intercom TELEC certification process
1. The applicant signs a certification contract with the designated testing agency and pays a 50% certification deposit
2. The applicant shall provide the test prototype, application form and certification materials to the handling agency
3. The testing agency starts the test, issues a test report, and submits the application to the RCB agency
4. After the review is completed, the certificate is issued, the balance is paid, the certificate is sent by the testing agency, and the case is completed
