Regulations on the transportation of lithium batteries took effect on April 1, 2016

    Lithium ion batteries and cells shipped under parts UN3480, PI965, IA and IB shall be in a state of charge (SoC) not exceeding 30% of the designed capacity. The capacity value obtained by discharge in accordance with IEC61960 standard 7.3.1 0.2c shall be 30%. Lithium ion batteries and cells shipped under parts of UN3480, PI965, IA and IB are prohibited on passenger aircraft.

According to UN3480, PI965, part II transport of lithium ion batteries and batteries are prohibited on passenger aircraft.

     Battery or battery cell ≤ 2.7wh: the package must be labeled with lithium battery operation label and cargo aircraft label only; 2.7wh < cell ≤20Wh, 2.7wh < battery ≤100Wh: the package must be labeled with lithium battery operation label and cargo aircraft label only. In a single shipment, the shipper is allowed to transport only one piece of lithium ion battery or cell package shipped under part UN3480, PI965, II. The lithium ion battery or battery pack that is transported by UN3480, PI965, part II may be transported by synthetic pack. However, only one such package is allowed in each composite package. If the cargo plane label and lithium battery operation label attached to the package are not clearly visible on the outside of the composite package, these labels must be reproduced on the outside of the composite package and marked "OVERPACK" on the outside of the composite package. 3. In a single shipment, the shipper is allowed to transport only one package of lithium metal battery or battery cell packed under UN3090, PI968, part II.

    The lithium metal battery or battery cell package transported by UN3090, PI968, part II can be made into a composite package for transportation. However, only one such package is allowed in each composite package. If the cargo plane label and lithium battery operation label attached to the package are not clearly visible on the outside of the composite package, these labels must be reproduced on the outside of the composite package and marked "OVERPACK" on the outside of the composite package. 4. Lithium batteries shipped in accordance with package instructions 965 and 968 part II must be separated from other goods before shipment, and must not be loaded into ULD.
