Author:中认联科 time:2021-01-05 Ctr:1018

In recent years, with the continuous influx of many new electronic products, smart bracelets have gradually become popular. The smart bracelet can not only indicate the time, but also has one or more functions such as reminding, navigation, calibration, monitoring, and interaction. However, the export of smart bracelets to the EU must apply for CE-RED certification.

What is CE-RED certification? Why apply for CE-RED certification?

The 1999/5/EC directive has been implemented for many years, and many places cannot meet the requirements of existing products. On May 22, 2014, the European Union officially announced a new version of the wireless equipment directive RED 2014/53/EU. This directive is based on the EU’s new CE framework resolution 768/2008/EC. RED 2014/53/EU replaces the original European Union Radio Equipment Directive R&TTE-D 1999/5/EC.

For wireless products sold in the EU market, EU member states will adopt the New Radio Equipment Directive (RED) from June 13, 2016; wireless products that comply with the old R&RTTE Directive will be prohibited from being sold on the EU market.

For wireless short-range products, the new RED directive involves the following main contents:

1. Renewal of EU standard for wireless toys or short-range remote control products ETSI EN 300 220

2. ETSI EN 300 328 update for Bluetooth, WiFi and other product testing standards

Smart bracelet CE-RED test project

1. Electromagnetic compatibility test (EMC test)

2. Safety test LVD (RED directive includes RF products with battery input)

3. Perform radio communication equipment testing (RF testing) according to European ETSI standards

4. Information Announcement of European Permitted Frequency Bands (Notification)

5. Electrical safety and health protection test (SAR evaluation/test)

Six steps of CE mark radio equipment RED certification

The Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU contains the legal obligations of each economic operator (manufacturer, importer, distributor). The following step-by-step plan has been developed for the manufacturer.

1. Product classification: Determine whether the product falls within the scope of the Radio Equipment Directive and the classification of radio equipment according to established standards.

2. Classification of economic operators: define the role of economic operators in the radio equipment directive.

3. Compliance procedures: can be divided into the following parts:

a. Carry out product testing and/or safety assessment according to European unified standards;

b. Develop procedures to ensure the consistency of mass production;

c. Provide identification elements of products and economic operators;

d. Provide user instructions and safety information;

e. Develop procedures for taking corrective actions.

4. Technical documents: formulate technical documents (including user manuals), and evaluate product compliance based on the documents.

5. EU Declaration of Conformity: Drafting the EU Declaration of Conformity, indicating that the radio equipment complies with CE regulations.

6. Affix the CE mark: Once the product complies with the Radio Equipment Directive and related standards, the CE mark will be affixed.
