Do electric water heaters need to apply for CCC certification?

The full name of CCC certification is "Compulsory Product Certification System". It is a product conformity assessment system implemented by the Chinese government in accordance with laws and regulations to protect consumers' personal safety and national security, strengthen product quality management. Electric water heaters are within the scope of the CCC certification catalog. All products within the scope of the CCC catalog must be certified before they can be sold on the domestic market.

3C certification scope of electric water heater

1. The rated voltage of single-phase appliances of electric water heaters does not exceed 250V, and the rated voltage of other appliances does not exceed 480V to require 3C certification;

2. With the function of heating the water to a temperature below the boiling point when the water flows through the appliance, the appliance used for bathing, washing and similar purposes requires 3C certification

3. 3C certification is also required for the appliance to realize the function of heating water through metal-clad electric heating elements, non-metal-clad electric heating elements, electric heating films or similar film electric heating elements, exposed electric heating elements, or other heating methods.

Information required for CCC certification of electric water heater

1. Fill in the application form for compulsory product certification;

2. A copy of the applicant’s "Business License of Enterprise Legal Person" or registration certificate (provided at the time of initial application or change);

3. Process flow chart of the product to be certified (provided at the time of initial application or change);

4. List of key instruments and equipment used for routine inspection (see factory quality control inspection requirements in the certification implementation rules) (provided at the time of initial application or change);

5. Product assembly drawing and electrical schematic diagram;

6. Chinese instruction manual for the certified product;

7. Explanation of the differences between products of various models in the same application unit;

8. Appearance photos of each model product in the same application unit (in duplicate).

CCC certification process for electric water heaters

1. Application—Appropriate documents are submitted to the issuing agency;

2. Application for initial factory inspection and factory questionnaire;

3. Provide product description, including key parts list, product diagram, circuit diagram, nameplate label, etc.;

4. Product testing is based on mandatory GB standards (sample testing must be carried out);

5. Factory inspection—The factory audit teacher must conduct a factory inspection on each factory where the final product components are made;

6. Evaluation—A test to evaluate the results of factory inspections to determine whether to grant CCC certificates;

7. Logo—CCC logo is affixed to the product;

8. Follow-up inspection—The manufacturer must inspect every 12-18 months.
