On December 9, 2020, the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategies (BEIS) announced that England, Wales and Scotland comply with the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011 (SI2011/1811 as amended) designated toy safety standards List, and will take effect on January 1, 2021.

So, after Brexit, what standards should be tested for toys exported to the UK?

In addition to meeting the relevant test standards, what requirements must be met for products placed on the UK market?

◆ Meet the British regulatory framework and requirements

◆ Where applicable, product conformity assessment by the UK certification body is required

◆ Applicable to the British Conformity Assessment Mark (UKCA)

Products that have been put on the UK market before January 1, 2021:

Before January 1, 2021, toys that have been put on the UK market can continue to be sold in the UK. The finished goods in stock can still be placed on the UK market after January 1, 2021 with the existing logo and the notified body number.

Use of conformity marks (UKCA, CE):

If the toy is placed on the UK market on or after January 1, 2021, the following key changes need to be noted:

Please note that the "CE and UNKI" mark is mandatory when the finished products placed on the Northern Ireland market are subject to third-party compulsory certification by the British Conformity Assessment Agency; neither the UKCA nor the "CE and UKNI" mark is used by the European Union. accept.

Recommendations and precautions for placing toy products on the UK market:

◆ If your toy products are imported to the entire United Kingdom (including Great Britain and Northern Ireland), it is recommended that you use the UKCA mark and the CE mark at the same time;

◆ Once you use the UKCA and CE marks at the same time, your products must have their respective addresses in the United Kingdom and the European Union, and must meet the requirements of the United Kingdom and the European Union at the same time;

◆ You need to prepare corresponding technical documents according to the regulations of the United Kingdom and the European Union;

◆ You need to prepare the Declaration of Conformity (DOC) for the UK market and the EU market respectively according to the regulatory requirements of the UK and the EU.
