In recent years, the application scope of wireless charging technology has continued to expand, and more brand manufacturers have joined in, and wireless charging QI certification has also received more and more attention from enterprises. Let's talk to the professional wireless charging QI certification company-ZRLK to understand how to apply for wireless charging QI certification!

Introduction to wireless charging QI certification

QI is a "wireless charging" standard launched by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC); it has two major features: convenience and versatility.

The QI standard 1.0 was released in July 2010. The current version is V1.2.4. The WPC Charging Alliance expects the latest version V1.3 around April 2020 (there is likely to be a 3-6 month delay), the complete V1.3 specification Released in WPC2001.

Special reminder:

The WPC SG (Steering Group) team announced that starting from July 1, 2019, the mandatory implementation of Samsung’s Proprietary Power Delivery Extensions ("PPDE") testing.

For wireless charging products that support Samsung PPDE, if they have not been tested and certified, WPC will delete the certified products from the official website certification database.

QI test introduction

Passing or not is mainly related to the electrical parameters of the sample to be tested (resonant capacitor). The material of the capacitor mainly affects the efficiency, and low efficiency can easily cause the GP to fail.

1. It is recommended to use COG or NPO capacitors. The efficiency of CBB/X7R capacitors is relatively low.

2. Under the same capacitor material, appropriately reducing the capacitance value can produce more power, and the capacitance value must be greater than 347nf.

3. With a slightly higher output voltage adapter, such as Samsung's 5.3v output adapter.

4. Ask the tester to properly offset the test coil during the test to find the output power point.

Wireless charging QI certification process

1. Member application;

2. Product registration;

3. Product provision;

4. Product conformity testing;

5. Product compatibility test;

6. Final product confirmation;

7. Review and issue certificates.

Qi certification notes:

1. Qi certification is only for WPC members, which means that the manufacturer first needs to become a member;

2. Qi certification must be completed in a laboratory authorized by WPC to be valid;

3. Qi certification is a voluntary certification, not a requirement of local market regulations;

4. The current Qi certification is for 5W low power and 15W medium power products;

5. The manufacturer currently uses the Qi standard to produce products, temporarily waiving the patent technology fee, whether it will be free in the future, to be notified;

6. For the finished product manufacturer, please ensure that the solution you purchase meets the technical requirements of the new standard version.

The above is about the application for wireless charging QI certification.
